Irresistibly Juicy Slow Cooker Asian Pulled Pork Delight

Ingredients

  • For the Marinade:
  • ½ cup Soy Sauce Rich umami flavor; switch to tamari for gluten-free
  • ¼ cup Rice Vinegar For balancing sweetness
  • ¼ cup Honey Natural sweetness; maple syrup can be used as a vegan alternative
  • ¼ cup Hoisin Sauce Adds depth; can be omitted for low-sugar option
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame Oil Nutty flavor; canola oil is a substitute
  • For the Spice:
  • 3 cloves Garlic Robust aroma; garlic powder can substitute
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Ginger Warm, spicy note; ground ginger can be used
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha/Chili Garlic Sauce Adds heat; adjust to taste
  • ½ teaspoon White Pepper Mild spice; black pepper can be a substitute

For Thickening

  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch To thicken sauce
  • ¼ cup Water For slurry

Instructions

  1. How to Make Slow Cooker Asian Pulled Pork
  2. Prep Pork: Cut the pork shoulder into four sizable chunks and place them in a resealable bag.
  3. Marinate: Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, Sriracha, and white pepper into the bag. Massage well. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  4. Cook: Transfer marinated pork into the slow cooker. Cook on LOW for 8-10 hours or HIGH for 5-6 hours until tender.
  5. Shred: Remove pork from the slow cooker and shred using two forks. Cover with foil to keep warm.
  6. Simmer Sauce: Strain cooking liquid into a saucepan. Simmer and thicken with cornstarch slurry until glossy.
  7. Combine: Return shredded pork to the slow cooker and pour thickened sauce over. Toss to coat evenly.
  8. Serve: Enjoy your pulled pork over rice, in lettuce wraps, or in steamed buns.
