Grilled BBQ Chicken Drumsticks: An Amazing Ultimate

Prep15 minutes
Cook30-40 minutes
Servessize: 10 drumsticks

Ingredients

  • 10 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Following these steps will help you create delicious Grilled BBQ Chicken Drumsticks:
  2. 1. Prep the Drumsticks: Start by patting the chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels. This helps achieve a crispy skin during grilling.
  3. 2. Make the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well.
  4. 3. Marinate the Chicken: Add the chicken drumsticks to the bowl and toss until they are well coated. Allow the drumsticks to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or ideally, 2-4 hours for better flavor.
  5. 4. Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 350°F to 400°F / 175°C to 200°C).
  6. 5. Oil the Grill Grates: Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking. You can do this by using a paper towel dipped in oil and using tongs to wipe it across the grates.
  7. 6. Grill the Chicken: Place the marinated chicken drumsticks on the hot grill. Cook for about 30-40 minutes, turning them every 7-10 minutes for even cooking.
  8. 7. Add BBQ Sauce: During the last 10 minutes of cooking, brush the drumsticks with the barbecue sauce. This allows the glaze to caramelize and enhances the flavor.
  9. 8. Check for Doneness: The drumsticks are done when they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C). Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
  10. 9. Rest the Chicken: Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill and cover it loosely with foil. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
  11. 10. Serve and Enjoy!: Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve the drumsticks hot.
